If you’re looking for the kind of internship where interns spend their time making copies and surfing the web, an internship with Albeca Learning is definitely not for you. We are a start-up company founded in 2008 that aims to disrupt the global educational market through cutting-edge learning software. At Albeca Learning, you will have real responsibilities and will be the point person for your relevant market. Among other things, these responsibilities will include:
• Conducting research on your specified market.
• Compiling a list of potential clients in such market.
• Making the initial contact with such clients.
• Assisting in developing a marketing and business plan for your market.
• Assisting in the localization of the software for your market.
While this is an unpaid position, we do offer the following:
• A high level of responsibility and valuable experiences rarely seen in internships.
• First consideration for any full- or part-time paid positions that open. We expect that the next such positions to become available will be sometime this summer.
• Course credit, as per the requirements of your university.
• Letters of recommendation based on the results of your internship.
We are currently seeking one or more unpaid interns who are native speakers of, and have spent significant time in countries that speak, each of the following languages: English (U.S./Canada), Mandarin (mainland China), Japanese, Spanish (Latin America), German, French, Portuguese (Brazil), Italian, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, and Korean. Interns will focus on the market represented by each of those languages.
This is a telecommuting position, so you will be able to work from home. Candidates should be able to commit at least 20 hours per week, but the more hours you can commit the more responsibilities you will be provided, and candidates who can commit more hours will be preferred. Scheduling is flexible and at your discretion may include early morning or evening hours, but interns must work out a specific schedule with their supervisors during which time they are available for real-time video communication via Skype or iChat. Candidates who can start immediately are preferred, but we are also accepting candidates to start in the summer. Candidates should be at least sophomores as of this summer.
To apply, please send your resume and a cover email to the reply-to email above, including the following information:
• Your native language and a description of time spent in any country where your native language is spoken.
• How many hours per week you can commit and for how long you expect to be able to intern.
• If still in school, your year in school.
• Any experience you have with educational software, including in your own studies.
• Your Skype and/or iChat screen names.
We will review all submissions and schedule video conference interviews on a rolling basis with selected candidates.
